Pet Cat
Having a pet cat can be an extremely fun, rewarding experience. Here are just a few of the benefits you will receive when you purchase or adopt a feline companion:
- Companionship. Cats are ideal companions for people who live alone. They are great apartment dwellers and get along famously in just about any type of living arrangement. Your kitty or adult cat can comfort you when you are feeling down and provide a sense of continual friendship as you go about your daily life. Elderly people especially benefit from having cats as companions. That furry bundle of joy can be the one thing that keeps them going and alleviates the loneliness they feel.
- Laughter. No matter how poor of a mood you are in, your cat will make you laugh till you cry with his hilarious antics. A kitty is particularly comical as they are highly inquisitive and can get themselves in a lot of mischief. Watching your pet cat or cats play with their toys can be amusing. If you have more than one cat, you’ll get a kick out of watching them interact with one another.
- Comfort. Do you ever have those days when you simply feel depressed? Perhaps there are circumstances in your life that make you predisposed to depression. Having a pet cat or kitty in the house can help these feelings dissipate rapidly. Cats are very good at sensing mood swings in their human owners. If your cat senses that you are sad, lonely or depressed, he may do his best to comfort you. Your pet cat or kitty, may gently curl up in your lap, looking intently into your face, just waiting for you to smile.
Finding a Pet Cat
If you don’t already have a pet cat, now may be the perfect time to start looking for a feline companion. Finding a kitty or a pair of cats is not difficult. There are more cats that need homes than there are homes available. To kick-start your search, begin by talking to friends and local veterinarians. Let them know that you are interested in adopting a pet cat or kitty. They may know of a family who just had a litter of kittens. Or perhaps their best friend is moving and needs to find a new home for her cat or cats. Networking with people you know is a highly effective way to locate a happy, healthy pet cat.
You may also want to visit local shelters and talk to the manager. Explain the type of cat or kitty you are looking for. Be sure to tell her if you prefer a specific breed or age. Shelter workers come in contact with cats all the time. When they come across a cat that meets your requirements, they would be more than happy to give you a call.
