Cat Tree

Having a family of cats can be a big responsibility. It can fill your home with laughter, fun and energy, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of work and responsibility on your end. If you are single or living alone, caring for your cats will be much easier. You can set up their cat tree condo or cat tree furniture any way you please. If you want to place cat tree houses or a cat tree in every room, you can do just as you please without having to get permission from another member of the family.

You can also buy more than one cat condo or cat tree house without worrying about what your spouse may think. If you have a family or other family members living with you, help them understand the needs of your pet cats. If raised properly, cats can be quite sociable and enjoy human company. But if they are constantly ignored or experience rough handling from humans, they will become shy and skittish. Shy cats tend to retreat to their cat tree house or cat tree when confronted by a stranger. They may be fearful to come out of their cat tree condo, even when you coax them to join the family. So how can you protect your cats from these negative experiences? The most effective method is to educate yourself, your spouse and your kids about properly handling your cats.

When Your Pet Retreats to His Cat Tree too much…

Oftentimes, when cats are scared they will jump on a high object, such as a cat tree or cat tree house, where they feel safer. Here are a few things that can irritate your cat and make him feel like avoiding human company:

  • Pulling his tail. Pulling a cats tail is the equivalent of yanking your hair or ponytail. It doesn’t feel very good. If this happens too much, your pet may run into his cat tree house or cat tree condo when he sees you approaching. Rough handling, even if it is accidental, should be avoided at all costs. Pulling your cat’s tail to get him to come down from his cat tree or cat tree houses is not effective. Instead, coax him down with a treat or find a chair where you can reach and gently pick him up.

  • Grabbing your cat. Sudden movements can terrify your cat. If your cat is peacefully sleeping in his cat tree house or on his cat tree, don’t jerk him up suddenly. Instead, quietly walk over to the cat tree or cat tree condo. Gently stroke your cat’s fur or tap his back, to wake him up. Once your cat is aware of your presence, slowly pick him up. These slower, more deliberate movements will cause your pet to feel secure in your presence. Too much grabbing or jerking will make your cat skittish. He will start to avoid your presence at all cost, possibly retreating to his cat tree condo, or cat tree houses, refusing to come out if you are around. Always be gentle with your cat. In this way you will earn and maintain his trust, which is your most precious possession.
