Cat Containment

Mealtime is the highlight of every cat’s day. Felines simply love to eat. If your pet has a healthy appetite, it’s a good sign that he is feeling and acting like a normal cat. Your cat should run to the door of his cat containment system or cat enclosure whenever he sees you approaching with his dinner.

Although mealtime may be your cat’s favorite part of the day, you may not feel the same way. Especially if your cat tends to be a messy eater—strewing food all over his cat fencing and cat furniture. There are several reasons why your cat may be such a slob. In the first place, it is important to remember that cats in the wild believe they need to eat as much food as they can, as fast as they can. This is due to the fact that a larger predator may come sneaking down the trail, only to rob the cat of his hard-earned meal. While this is obviously not an issue for your cat inside his cat fence or cat containment system, your cat’s brain still thinks in these terms.

This drive may be particularly strong if you are feeding multiple cats inside your cat containment system or cat fencing. In order to eliminate this type of stress, try separating your cats during mealtime. Instead of lining up food dishes in your cat containment system or cat enclosures, give each cat his own space. This will encourage your cats to eat slower and more calmly.

Feeding Your Pet In His Cat Containment System

If you want to eliminate your pet’s sloppiness at meals, avoid deep feeding dishes. These types of bowls only increase the problem. Most cats dislike deep bowls as it impairs their peripheral vision. It also squishes their whiskers which can cause discomfort.

If you want to encourage your pets to be tidy during breakfast or dinner, never put their feeding dishes next to the litter-box in their cat enclosures or cat fence. Your cat will dislike being so close to his waste and will attempt to drag his food away. This can cause a tremendous mess. Instead, find a quite, peaceful spot in your cat containment system or cat fences where your pet can enjoy his food. You can also put a place mat down in your cat enclosures, next to your pet’s feeding area. In this way, if your pet does fling food out of his bowl, it will be much easier to clean-up.

No matter what you do, some cats are simply messy eaters. Learn to accept your cat for who he is and just deal with the messes as they come. By feeding your pet in his outdoor cat containment system or cat fence, you can keep the mess and odor out of your house, which is always a plus.
